Did you know that Merino sheep have the finest wool of any sheep? Their hair never stops growing. The Merino sheep that grow their coats for this gorgeous line of yarn live in Turkey, and their wool is spun and dyed in the UK, which has a long history of yarn making.

Superwash Merino Wool is a great yarn to choose for sweaters, mittens, hats, and especially baby projects. It's warm, springy, hard wearing, and best of all MACHINE WASHABLE! This makes it perfect for baby items that require frequent washing, and everyday garments. It also works great for afghans – especially with our wide range of coordinating colors. Superwash Merino is specially processed so you don't need to worry about it shrinking or felting like normal wool.

Our superwash wool tends to be a bit denser than normal wool with a springy feel giving it great body and drape. Sometimes the process used in manufacturing wool can cause it to hold dyes less well. Not the case with superwash wool. It can actually hold dye better than normal wool fibers.

To wash your superwash wool garments just throw them in the washer on gentle/wool cycle. While they can be washed with normal detergents, over time this can cause the fibers to age. We recommend using Eucalon or another hand washing wool soap in your machine with these. As far as drying goes - they can go in the dryer and they will not shrink, but again for longevity and to minimize wear and tear we recommend drying them flat on a towel.
